OUR STORY

Behind every bottle of Old Elk is a team of passionate, hard-working whiskey makers dedicated to their craft. From the distillery, barrel room and bottling line to our warehouse, sales team and ambassadors, each award-winning spirit we release carries decades of collective experience and some of the most dedicated talent in the whiskey world. Today, Old Elk is made at Middle West Spirits in Columbus, Ohio, where that same team effort carries our craft forward.

It’s also what sets Old Elk apart from the herd: our Slow Cut™ proofing process. For us it means extra steps and extra costs. For you it means the world-class quality you’ve come to expect. Adding water to proof whiskey creates a heat-liberating reaction, and adding hundreds of gallons in a day or two boils off many of the lighter, finer flavors. So instead of a day, we spend weeks adding water in small increments to keep the whiskey cool and save the delicate flavors our team works so hard to create. It’s why we call our whiskey Slow Cut™, and why you can taste the quality in every sip. Thank you for being part of the herd. Share your moments with #OldElkInTheWild.
